Memorial Day 2011 Fort Snelling National Cemetery
“Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May (observed this year on 2007-05-28). It was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it expanded to include those who died in any war or military action. One of the longest standing traditions is the running of the Indianapolis 500, which has been held in conjunction with Memorial Day since 1911.” Continue reading
How to convert a Typepad blog to a WordPress blog
I have been blogging for a very long time at the Questions and Answers blog www.qandablog.com that is hosted via typepad.com. But I have known for a very long time that,
1. I wanted to be working in WordPress, the most popular Content Management System (CMS) in the world, so that I can easily help my clients with their web pages and blogs etc
2. From a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) perspective, it is much better to be blogging at your main domain, in this case www.waynemoran.com so that you are driving traffic to your domain and not the generic typepad.com domain.

Use your color histogram to correct your white balance
Have you ever noticed that when you are shooting an image, you look at the image on your screen on your camera and you notice right away that the colors do not look right? You know, they are too blue or too red or whatever. Yes you can run into this situation even when you are shooting with a camera that has a great auto white balance setting. As you get more and more careful with the quality of your images and when you want to capture super high quality images the first time so that you can limit post production edits. So how do you fix this color issue which is a white balance issue?

Strike!!! Classic baseball Image.
One of the all time best shots.. 🙂
This is a fun shot that gave me an opportunity to work with all the kids. Even the neighbor kids got involved.
The genesis of a picture: This picture originated from a discussion with another flickrite Wans2pics . We were talking about how to do a portrait of a male well. She came up with the idea that it could be an action shot or some shot were the guy was going the thing that he loved. So while this is no longer a portrait, it is a male action shot. There Wanda, the picture is up!!!
How is this done? Take 10 million pictures of a ball coming in and sort through them…lol Or…
Note: Bigger view is now available.
Note 2:
To see the Set Up…

Landmark Center St Paul Winter Carnival 2011
Landmark Center St Paul Winter Carnival 2011
The Landmark Center is one of the most recognizable buildings in Minnesota not to mention St Paul, Minnesota. The building has a great history and it is still being used in many interesting ways.
St. Paul’s historic Landmark Center, completed in 1902, originally served as the United States Post Office, Court House, and Custom House for the state of Minnesota. It was designed by Willoughby J. Edbrooke, who served as Supervising Architect of the U.S. Treasury Department in 1891-92. Edbrooke designed a body of public architecture, much of which, like this structure, was completed after his death in 1896. Landmark Center stands in beautiful Rice Park, now housing an arts and culture center for St. Paul.

Photo of the Day: Guthrie Theater
The Guthrie Theater is a Tony Award winning center for theater performance, production, education, and professional training in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is the result of the desire of Sir Tyrone Guthrie, Oliver Rea, and Peter Zeisler to create a resident acting company that would produce and perform the classics in an atmosphere removed from the commercial pressures of Broadway.
The Guthrie Theater has performed in two main-stage facilities. The first building was designed by architect Ralph Rapson and included a 1,441-seat thrust stage designed by Tanya Moiseiwitsch, which was active from 1963-2006. After closing its 2005-2006 season, the theater moved to its current facility designed by French architect Jean Nouvel.

Mickey’s Diner in Lights St Paul Minnesota
Mickey’s Diner is a 50′ x 10′ classic Art Deco diner car restaurant in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It was prefabricated in New Jersey by the Jerry O’Mahony Diner Company of Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1937 serial # 1067, shipped to Saint Paul by rail, and installed downtown just before World War II. It looks much like it did then and is still open 24 hours a day (and according to its employees, non-stop since it started). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as the only building of its kind in Minnesota. It is shown in several Hollywood movies, including The Mighty Ducks, Jingle All the Way, and A Prairie Home Companion, where it is featured prominently in the opening and closing scenes.
