About waynem

As a Minnesota based photographer and artist I have been greatly influenced by the Upper Midwest. I focus my skills and energies on portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural and fine art work. My best work comes from images first painted in my mind. I mull over a prospective image for weeks or months, seeing it from different angles and perspectives, then finally deciding what to capture. The result is images that deeply touch people's emotions and powerfully evoke memories and dreams. My images are used commercially by companies and organizations ranging from Financial Services firms, mom and pop Ice Cream shops and The Basilica of St Mary to communicate their shared vision and values. Book and magazine publishers have featured my images on their covers. My photographs also grace and enhance the decor of many fine homes.

New York City : Metropolitan Museum of Art: A moment of peace.

“The Metropolitan Museum of Art, known colloquially as The Met, is an art museum located on the eastern edge of Central Park, along what is known as Museum Mile in New York City, USA. Its permanent collection contains more than two million works of art, divided into nineteen curatorial departments. The main building, often referred to simply as “the Met”, is one of the world’s largest art galleries; there is also a much smaller second location in Upper Manhattan, at “The Cloisters”, which features medieval art.”

Photo of the day: Walker Art Museum Minneapolis

“The Walker Art Center is a contemporary art center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. The Walker is considered one of the nation’s “big five” museums for modern art along with the Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum and the Hirshhorn. It was founded in 1879 by lumberman Thomas Barlow Walker and which he formally established at its current location in 1927 as the first public art gallery in the Upper Midwest. Directly across from the museum are the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, which opened in 1988; and the Cowles Conservatory. Photo of the Day: 911 We Remember : Dedicated to those who fell and to those who carry on.

Book Review: The Little Book That Beats the Market: Joel Greenblatt

This book is a short little piece with lots of humor, but do not mistake it’s brevity for lack of content and power. The methodology that this book recommends is so easy and so powerful that the author risks having the reader not taking it seriously. I beg you, take this seriously and you will be handsomely rewarded.

USS Intrepid New York City

USS Intrepid : New York City
Bright and early on a warm summer Saturday morning we ventured out to first figure out how to use the subway but then secondly to get to Lower Manhattan past the financial district so that we could catch the first ferry to the Stature of Liberty and Ellis Island. So the question in my mind was how you capture these iconic places in a little more unique and interesting way while at the same time capturing the essence of their significance to both America and the world. I hope these images accomplish that feat.
As you are on the boat to Ellis Island and the Stature of Liberty you get to see this beauty in harbor, The USS Intrepid. This ship has a great history. You could spend a day just exploring this incredible machine.
