Memorial day

A friend forwarded a wonderful tribute to our fallen soldiers for this memorial day weekend celebration. It is so good I had to share it with you.

You can find it here.

Please say a prayer for all those who have lost a loved one in the defense of our country.

About waynem

As a Minnesota based photographer and artist I have been greatly influenced by the Upper Midwest. I focus my skills and energies on portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural and fine art work. My best work comes from images first painted in my mind. I mull over a prospective image for weeks or months, seeing it from different angles and perspectives, then finally deciding what to capture. The result is images that deeply touch people's emotions and powerfully evoke memories and dreams. My images are used commercially by companies and organizations ranging from Financial Services firms, mom and pop Ice Cream shops and The Basilica of St Mary to communicate their shared vision and values. Book and magazine publishers have featured my images on their covers. My photographs also grace and enhance the decor of many fine homes.

Thanks for the reminder. I actually saw the story somewhere else. Thought it was a little unfair since ‘looks’ and ‘normal’ had little to do with my reaction. Right or wrong, I have actually turned troubled kids away; these were my children’s friends. Twice, they have asked me if we could ‘adopt’ or have friends live with us. The thoughts of having demanding, attention deprived, potentially dangerous boys under our roof terrified me. I worried what would happen to my own two. We had an alcoholic with us four months…the family suffers. Not sure it can be justified, but there are reasons out there besides “you’re ugly”. All I can say is, hope that story isn’t true.
Let’s celebrate our country with thankful heart and yea, hope and pray we can give of ourselves to do God’s will.
