I was out shooting some photographs this past weekend. Take a look and let me know what you think.
You can find the whole batch here…
I think I might be getting the knack of this photography thing a little bit.

About waynem
As a Minnesota based photographer and artist I have been greatly influenced by the Upper Midwest. I focus my skills and energies on portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural and fine art work.
My best work comes from images first painted in my mind. I mull over a prospective image for weeks or months, seeing it from different angles and perspectives, then finally deciding what to capture. The result is images that deeply touch people's emotions and powerfully evoke memories and dreams.
My images are used commercially by companies and organizations ranging from Financial Services firms, mom and pop Ice Cream shops and The Basilica of St Mary to communicate their shared vision and values. Book and magazine publishers have featured my images on their covers. My photographs also grace and enhance the decor of many fine homes.
Like the photos — definetely getting better.
Thank you. Is there any particular one or type that you like?
“Pleading for Justice”..nice shot. Excellent arrangement. The photo with the flower where the state capitol blurred, is also nice.
I have a night shot for you (tripod stuff). You have to wait for the capitol to be lit up at night.
To the northeast of the capitol there is a small park. The park has an overlook. Go there and look towards the cathedral. If you go when the capitol is lit up at night, you can get the cathedral off in the distance, with the east side of the capitol, all lit up. It is kind of a famous shot.
Another good shot is of downtown in the morning, from Mounds Park. There are some sandstone cliffs just north of the park. If you walk down to those cliffs you can get a nice sweep of the railroad and a framed (via some trees) shot of the downtown skyline. That is from kind of a famous painting.
Great ideas!
Are you an art buff or photography buff also, on top of your history prowess?
BTW if you are a history buff, how much of the new movie “The Great Raid” is historically accurate?
Wayne, these are excellent! I’ve been to St. Paul’s cathederal so I especially loved those photos.
You are getting good..when ya gonna go pro????
I am a photo buff, specificaly, landscape photography. I plan on seeing “the Great Raid” after reading your review, thanks. I am not really qualified to judge whether it is historically accurate. Good luck with the photos!
OK Harold,
You need to share your photos with us or at least point us to where we can see them. If you want to send some via email I can post them for you.

I’m thinking this is going to be an “as regular as I can make it” Tuesday/Thursday thing. You’ve been warned.
