Camera Review Panasonic Lumix GF2

Camera Review Panasonic Lumix GF2
Do you ever get tired of lugging around that huge anchor of a camera that you have so that you can impress all your friends and fellow professional photographers and look like a pro? Have you been keeping up with the incredible advances that have been made in the high end point and shoot camera market? These cameras are often called interchangeable-lens compact (ILC). Well, I must say I am very intrigued and yes I can say I even lust for a great small camera that I can have with me all the time. These cameras and they are showing up all over the place and great advances have been made in quality and performance.

Well this week I was reading a recent copy of Popular Photography http://www.popphoto.com/ and I read a review of the Panasonic Lumix GF2 and I knew I wanted to get my hands on that baby and get out shooting. Well as luck would have it I was not able to actually get out shooting with one but I was able to do the next best thing. I contacted several fellow photographers who have had experience with the camera and I ask them to give me their thoughts on the camera.

I will post the two seperately.

“It is incredibly small for a compact system camera, sturdy feeling (metal body) and given the fact that it does 1080p video it competes with the Nex-5 which is currently $200 more expensive and the GF2’s bundle lens is the 45-200 whereas the Nex’s is the 16mm 2.8 pancake lens. Most people find the telephoto more useful. The touch screen makes it simple as far as buttons go, and is pretty easy to change the photographic settings. The pinwheel is a tiny bit too small I’d say though as it sometimes sticks when trying to spin it.”

About waynem

As a Minnesota based photographer and artist I have been greatly influenced by the Upper Midwest. I focus my skills and energies on portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural and fine art work. My best work comes from images first painted in my mind. I mull over a prospective image for weeks or months, seeing it from different angles and perspectives, then finally deciding what to capture. The result is images that deeply touch people's emotions and powerfully evoke memories and dreams. My images are used commercially by companies and organizations ranging from Financial Services firms, mom and pop Ice Cream shops and The Basilica of St Mary to communicate their shared vision and values. Book and magazine publishers have featured my images on their covers. My photographs also grace and enhance the decor of many fine homes.
