Five days and counting until our group leaves on our New Orleans Hurricane Katrina Relief trip. We had one person drop out at the end of last week for personal family reasons so we are at a team of nine women and nine men. It has been remarkable to me to see this team form. Both to see the people that are joining the team and the sacrifices that are being made to be on the team. This is awesome!
We had a team commissioning at both of our Sunday services and it was a very sacred experience. My sense was that God really showed up at the service. It was not just a man thing. It was very powerful to me.
We had our final team meeting in between both services. Everyone got all paid up, we communicated final information and solidified final plans. We even had a few team building exercises. I felt excitement in the air and everyone seemed very cheerful and ready to go.
We will be pulling out of the church parking lot next Saturday 2/4/2006 at 6:00 am and if weather holds we will be pulling into our first destination about fourteen hours later. Now that is one long day! We have plenty of drivers so the long day should not be too bad on our drivers.
I will do my best to try to post some updates while we are on the trip. It appears that we will be having some laptops coming on the trip. We just have to hope and pray for connection along the way.
Please again, if you are the praying type keep us in your prayers.
