We, the relief team from SSEFC had our first training meeting last night for our trip down to hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans. You can find previous post on the trip here and here.
We have or maybe 21 people signed up for the trip, I am so encouraged. We had an original dream goal of thirty people and I must admit that I thought that was insane. I was thinking if 10 people agreed to go I would be greatly impressed. Shows what I know. More on humility 101 later…
The team is composed of 10 females and 10 males. Two of the males are high school aged youth. Now who would have foreseen this? This whole thing is just so odd how it is working out.
We have already had people step forward and volunteer to manage all the transportation, housing and financial issues. We have even had people step forward to gather encouraging reading materials etc for the people that we will be coming into contact with and serving.
I must admit, I am a bit on edge. I always have a tendency to think that I am in charge of things like this and then all the details freak me out. Lord, help me to relax and realize that you are really in charge of this project.
If you are the praying sort I ask that you pray for protection of the team while we are down there. The mold and disease issues that they are running into down there are pretty severe. Also I ask that you would pray for team unity and a team filled with joy while having the opportunity to serve those in dire need.
praying for this
Ah, Wayne, keep breathing! I have been very excited about this project of yours since i read about it before. I have been praying and I know, if you let Him, He is going to be mightily glorified in it! I will pray for protection…remind us as the time draws near too!
Thanks CWV. I cherish your prayers.
