I have to comment Joe Lieberman for his courage to stand against most of the liberal establishment in his ongoing support for our efforst in Iraq.
He shows this courage in his recent Opinion Journal piece Our Troops Must Stay, where he comes out against the cut and run crowd of the Kennedys and the Kerrys.
He had just returned from his fourth trip to Iraq and he reports great progress in the recovery and bebuilding of services in Iraq.
The view in Iraq is much different than it is here in America. Lieberman says…
Here is an ironic finding I brought back from Iraq. While U.S. public opinion polls show serious declines in support for the war and increasing pessimism about how it will end, polls conducted by Iraqis for Iraqi universities show increasing optimism. Two-thirds say they are better off than they were under Saddam, and a resounding 82% are confident their lives in Iraq will be better a year from now than they are today. What a colossal mistake it would be for America’s bipartisan political leadership to choose this moment in history to lose its will and, in the famous phrase, to seize defeat from the jaws of the coming victory.
We never get this news here. Thank you Senator Lieberman for your courage.
Read his must read commentary here.
According to the Holy Spirit’s message on The Christian Prophet blog maybe an hour ago, Lieberman is a heroic light bringer to a very dark Democratic Party.
Well, Thank God, the Holy Spirit is a conservative Republican.
Let’s just say I think Republican policies line up with what God says better than most democratic policies.
Give to Caesar what is Caesars, and give to God what is Gods.
True enough! The question is how do we do that practically in the world of self government that we live in?
