NBRA Has Successful Inaugural Conference

Washington, D.C. -August 18, 2005 – The National Black Republican Association held its inaugural planning meeting and press announcement Monday, August 15th. Interim board members, along with grassroots activists representing many states, discussed strategy and set goals for the new organization’s direction. Interim Vice Chairman Don Scoggins stressed the importance of grassroots activism for the NBRA’s success:

“Thanks to each of you for helping to make our August 15th planning conference a resounding success!  This was a team effort, and our success ultimately begins with how well we all work together. The NBRA is a bottom up instead of a top down organization. It is important that those on the ground remain instrumental in the planning and success of the NBRA.”

After the press conference, interim Chairman Frances Rice hit the ground running, accepting numerous interview requests from print and visual media outlets around the country interested in the NBRA’s explosive growth.

“The media blitz the conference generated has been nothing short of astonishing. This is a new day in American politics, and the NBRA is here to help change the political dynamics in black communities across the country, from coast to coast," said Chairman Rice.

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman applauded the NBRA’s successful conference.

"In reaching out to African Americans to give them a choice, what the NBRA is doing is more important than what I am doing."

About waynem

As a Minnesota based photographer and artist I have been greatly influenced by the Upper Midwest. I focus my skills and energies on portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural and fine art work. My best work comes from images first painted in my mind. I mull over a prospective image for weeks or months, seeing it from different angles and perspectives, then finally deciding what to capture. The result is images that deeply touch people's emotions and powerfully evoke memories and dreams. My images are used commercially by companies and organizations ranging from Financial Services firms, mom and pop Ice Cream shops and The Basilica of St Mary to communicate their shared vision and values. Book and magazine publishers have featured my images on their covers. My photographs also grace and enhance the decor of many fine homes.
