Man, you know it is summer when you have a low temperature for the night of 80 degrees. This is so awesome!
Yesterday afternoon I was able to sneak out of work and get out on the boat. I had called my wife to say, “let’s get out on the water for some fun and relaxation”. She was immediately agreeable and off we were to the planning of our event. We had to work around some kids schedules and get some other kid’s friends to come with us.
Then we found out that boats battery was dead. My wife was on top of the issue and got the charger on it. She was able to figure it out and got it all charged up by the time I got home.
The kid’s friends were already waiting for us at our house when I got home. My wife had everything packed up; we were going to have dinner on the boat and bask in the sun.
We had to drop our daughter off at church because she was going to have a sleepover with a friend and all of that was going to start from church.
We made it to the lake by 4:00pm and there was no one in line to launch the boat. I knew this was going to be the perfect afternoon. We slipped the boat in and fired it up, off we were.
At first we went to our favorite place on the lake so that we could just hang out and float on the inner tube and play “king on the tube.” Then we decided to do some tubing behind the boat. The kid start off a little tentative, “dad, be nice pulling me” but after a few minutes they want me to do the “circle of death” to try to make them fall off.
Then it was to water skiing. You see we got new water skis for Christmas this past year and we have not had the opportunity to use them. It was now time. I wanted to go first but my wife would not let me go because I had blow out my ankle this past January and I will never be the same, so it was up to our oldest. He had never water-skied but now was the moment. He popped up the very first time. It was unbelievable! No one ever does that. Again, it must be the perfect afternoon.
Well if our oldest could do it then the others were willing to try it. They all had good success. Even my wife skied. Boy did I want to go skiing. It is not to be yet, but yes I did get to live vicariously thru my children.
Now here it is the next morning and I am all smiles. I am even listing to the raga music of UB 40. You know it is summer when it is going to be 95 degrees today and I am listening to raga music. So how am I going to escape early today?
