Bush and His iPod

So we hear Bush has an iPod!  I can’t believe it, the President is more cool than I am.  Where is this world going?

Now keep in mind, I am a software engineer.  I make my living with high-tech stuff, doing high-tech things, and here I am a relative Luddite in comparison to the President.  I only have an MP3 player because it comes with all of the players on my computer.  Of course even my kids would tell you how backwards I am, but that is a different story for a different time.

The most interesting part of the iPod story is the fact that Bush listens to "My Sharona" from the Knack.  That was the first "cassette" that my mom took away from me when I was a teenager because of the raunchy lyrics.  Yes, it has a good beat, I can dance to it, I give it a 9.5 and it transports me back to my youth.

GWB, what are you doing listening to raunchy lyrics?  Oh, I bet you don’t listen to the lyrics?  This sounds like a conversation I will have with my kids….

About waynem

As a Minnesota based photographer and artist I have been greatly influenced by the Upper Midwest. I focus my skills and energies on portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural and fine art work. My best work comes from images first painted in my mind. I mull over a prospective image for weeks or months, seeing it from different angles and perspectives, then finally deciding what to capture. The result is images that deeply touch people's emotions and powerfully evoke memories and dreams. My images are used commercially by companies and organizations ranging from Financial Services firms, mom and pop Ice Cream shops and The Basilica of St Mary to communicate their shared vision and values. Book and magazine publishers have featured my images on their covers. My photographs also grace and enhance the decor of many fine homes.

    Lets see.
“My Shrarona” is a leading track on “one hit wonders”
John Fogarty was sued by the company that owned the copyrite to his first recording because “his music all sounds the same”
Its not just how short the play list is. Its that with all of the great rock and roll of the past 30 years GW has picked the most simplistic and repetitive.

It certainly is one that I have with my teenagers (14 and 16) … the worst thing is that Rose made a “mom mix” for my iPod because I refuse to listen to her radio stations … after listening to the same song for many times I finally listened to the lyrics and was horrified … brought it up to the girls and got these blank looks … what? Turns out they couldn’t understand most of the lyrics and never paid attention … and didn’t understand some of the references (and I sure wasn’t gonna explain those to them!) 🙂
