I have been reading and hearing in the news about the annual Hajj coming up. The Muslim trip to Mecca Saudi Arabi.
Some 1.7 million Muslims prepare to start Hajj rituals
Hajj Pilgrims Begin Stoning of Devil
Muslim faithful begin Hajj
Well, I experienced a little mini Hajj today on the way to work.
I work in downtown St. Paul MN. I park my car in a lot and walk a few blocks to the office. During my walk I go through the Excel Energy Center, which is like a conference center and sports complex. The Minnesota Wild Hockey team also plays there.
Anyway, the elevator was unusually packed this morning and the people all appear to be people of African and Middle Eastern descent. I know I am way too politically incorrect that I noticed. Many of the people were carrying their prayer carpets and other accessories for their morning of prayer. The people were just streaming in.
So, my assumption is, being they are not able to goto Mecca this year, they are having a mini Hajj right here in downtown St. Paul.
This did make me think, how willing are we Christians willing to be called to prayer?
Have a great day!

About waynem
As a Minnesota based photographer and artist I have been greatly influenced by the Upper Midwest. I focus my skills and energies on portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural and fine art work.
My best work comes from images first painted in my mind. I mull over a prospective image for weeks or months, seeing it from different angles and perspectives, then finally deciding what to capture. The result is images that deeply touch people's emotions and powerfully evoke memories and dreams.
My images are used commercially by companies and organizations ranging from Financial Services firms, mom and pop Ice Cream shops and The Basilica of St Mary to communicate their shared vision and values. Book and magazine publishers have featured my images on their covers. My photographs also grace and enhance the decor of many fine homes.
