An interesting article discusses the phenomenon of the increasing number of "repeat divorces".
A couple of questions come to mind. 1) Why do we have the throwaway society? 2) Why are people such poor judges of character? 3) Would marriages built on true dependence on Jesus Christ reduce this trend? 4) Why ask why?
Questions number 1 and 2 are pretty easy to answer I think; our sin nature. We want what we think will make us feel good now and we don’t want to listen to God to see what he says about the topic.
I think the fact that in the Christian community the divorce rate is the same as the non Christian world does not argue against question #3. Instead it would argue that many in the Christian community are not really Christians or at the very least not living a life that is dependent upon God.
