Minnesota’s 2005 Legislature will have a different makeup from the one that dealt with some major fiscal and social issues last year. The solid conservative majority in the House of Representatives has narrowed to a razor-thin two votes. And while the DFL maintains a 36-31 majority in the Senate, a looming election in 2006 may influence the positions some erstwhile liberal lawmakers hold on issues dear to the hearts of their pro-family constituents.
