Should a U.S. soldier spend the rest of his life in prison for killing terrorists?
Should a U.S. soldier be prosecuted for protecting his own life and the lives of his brothers?
By now, you are all familiar with the story of the young Marine who was caught on videotape by an NBC reporter shooting a wounded terrorist in a Fallujah Mosque.
By now, many of you know that anti-American groups like the United Nations, the ACLU, Amnesty International and a host of others are literally calling for this young man's head on a silver platter.
And as these left-wing organizations continually chant their mantras of hatred against this young soldier -- and try to make him their sacrificial lamb for a war of liberation that they never really wanted the United States to fight -- almost two months have passed and this young Marine is still hanging in the wind, wondering whether he will be charged with war crimes, while the military authorities "investigate" the incident.
But what is probably the most infuriating is that we've heard hardly a peep from our leaders in Washington in this young man's defense.

The Liberal Left Is Screaming Bloody Murder
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour is demanding "an investigation".
Amnesty International said: "The deliberate shooting of unarmed and wounded fighters who pose no immediate threat is a war crime under international law," and they stressed that the U.S. authorities should immediately investigate the case and hold perpetrators responsible.
Kenneth Roth of Human Rights Watch literally savaged this young soldier on the O'Reilly Factor, "See, my position is that there is a prima facie war crime here that deserves court-martial."
Joe Stork, Washington director of the Middle East division of Human Rights Watch said, " It would probably be a war crime," and Aljazeera gladly trumpeted that comment to the world.
Michael Ratner president of the Center for Constitutional Rights ranted: "It's a war crime. It's a clear war crime."
With all these big guns of the left ganging up on this poor young Marine, you would think some of our leaders in Washington would have the guts and integrity to step up to the plate and say something in this young soldier's defense.
Not so -- the silence from our leaders on the matter is so deafening, you can hear a pin drop.

This Young Man Did NOTHING Wrong
The other villain here is -- once again -- biased reporting.
Kevin Sites, the NBC reporter in Iraq who initially shot the footage, claims on his website that his reporting of the incident did not convey "guilt or innocence" on the young soldier.
Perhaps Sites doesn't realize his own bias because the total lack of context in the story indicates a clear bias.
Sites mentions that the wounded terrorists were part of a firefight from the previous day and that the young Marine was simply part of a clean up detail:
Sites says of the terrorist who was shot, "this man - all of these wounded men - were the same ones from yesterday (Friday)... they had been disarmed, treated and left here."
But Oliver North reported a slightly different story: "The following morning -- Saturday -- another platoon of Marines from a different company was attacked from the mosque. A second gunfight ensued, and once again, a squad of Marines assaulted the structure. They were accompanied by NBC correspondent Kevin Sites and his cameraman, taping for the 'pool' -- meaning that whatever tape he filed would be available to all the networks accredited to cover Operation New Dawn."
Why would Sites claim that these men had been disarmed the previous day after witnessing the second gunfight?
Sites also goes on to say, "it appeared to me very plainly that something was not right. " and says of the man who was shot, i"Did not appear to be armed or threatening in any way."
Yet, as Oliver North points out: "Why didn't the original story include the fact that a Marine in the same unit had been killed 24 hours earlier while searching the booby-trapped dead body of a terrorist? "
Perhaps it could be argued that the young Marine over-reacted, but to elevate his actions to the status of a war crime -- rape, torture, mass murder -- is ridiculous.
Seriously, where were these leftist organizations when Saddam Hussein was committing mass executions and using weapons of mass destruction on his own people?

What's The Real Crime Here
The real villains in this whole sordid affair are our political leaders in Washington for not lifting a finger or uttering a word in this young man's defense.
We expect liberal bias from the media.
We expect anti-American groups to oppose the actions of the United States and our men and women in uniform at every turn.
But these rabid cries of bloody murder from the liberal left have gone on for almost two months -- UNANSWERED.
In essence, there is really nothing to investigate here. The young Marine made a split-second life or death decision -- case closed.
However, this young Marine has literally been sitting around for two months -- awaiting possible court martial.
I can only imagine that the situation is a living hell for him and his family. It must be torture.
And what about our service members still in Iraq? How many lives will be lost because a soldier will hesitate before taking a necessary action against an enemy?
Someone needs to stand up for this young Marine.
And, since our leaders seem to lack the backbone... it's up to us to give it to them.
